Walk-in Tattoos vs. Appointments: Which Option Is Right for You?

One of the most common questions we hear at Linden Street Tattoo Company is, "Should I walk-in or book an appointment?"
The answer depends on the type of tattoo you're looking for, how much planning is involved, and how flexible your schedule is.
Both options are great ways to get tattooed but understanding the difference can help you choose the experience that's right for you.
When a Walk-in Is a Great Option
Walk-ins are perfect for clients who are ready to get tattooed and don't need a lengthy design process beforehand.
Walk ins are often a great fit for:
Small tattoos
Flash tattoos
Simple lettering
Gap fillers
Matching tattoos
Last minute tattoo ideas
Clients who are flexible with timing
At Linden Street Tattoo Company, walk-ins are welcome Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 8pm.
Walk-ins are taken on a first come, first served basis. Wait times vary depending on artist availability, the size and complexity of each tattoo and how busy the shop is that day. Because of this, wait times are never guaranteed.
While we do our best to accommodate everyone, arriving as a walk-in does not guarantee that you'll be tattooed that day. On particularly busy days, our artists may reach capacity before we're able to get to everyone on the list.
If our artists are busy when you arrive, we'll add you to our walk-in list and give you a call when it's your turn. This allows you to spend less time waiting around the shop while still keeping your place in line.
We know waiting can be frustrating, which is why we do our best to keep you informed throughout the process. If our artists are running behind, schedules change, or we determine we won't be able to get you in that day, we'll let you know as soon as possible.
And don't worry... we'll never leave you guessing. If we're unable to accommodate your walk in, we'll be happy to help you schedule the next available appointment with one of our artists.
For many clients, walk-ins are a fun and convenient way to get tattooed without the need to plan weeks or months in advance.
When an Appointment Makes More Sense
Appointments are usually the best option for larger, more detailed, or highly customized tattoos.
You may want to schedule an appointment if you're interested in:
Large custom tattoos
Sleeve projects
Cover ups
Tattoos that require multiple sessions
Detailed designs that need research and drawing time
Projects that require significant planning
One of the biggest advantages of booking an appointment is that your time is reserved specifically for you. Unlike walk-ins, which depend on artist availability and daily demand, an appointment reserves dedicated time with your artist. You won't need to worry about wait lists, availability that day, or whether the schedule fills before your turn comes up. If you're investing in a larger project, planning ahead often leads to the best possible experience.
Not Sure Which Option Is Best?
That's completely normal. Many clients have an idea for a tattoo but aren't sure whether it should be done as a walk-in or scheduled appointment. The good news is that we're happy to help. Our team can take a look at your idea and help determine whether a walk-in or appointment makes the most sense for your project.
The Right Tattoo Experience Starts with the Right Plan
Some tattoos are perfect for a spontaneous afternoon. Others benefit from extra planning and dedicated design time. Whether you're looking for a small walk-in tattoo or planning your next large custom piece, our goal is to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible from start to finish. Linden Street Tattoo Company welcomes walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 8pm and offers free consultations for all projects.
Whether you're a planner or more of a "let's do it today" type of person, there's a place for both walk ins and appointments at Linden Street Tattoo Company.
Ready to get started? Our team is here to help. Stop by the shop, give us a call, or reach out to one of our artists directly. We'd love to help bring your next tattoo to life.
