What Is a Flash Tattoo?

If you’ve ever walked into a tattoo shop and seen sheets of tattoo designs covering the walls, you’ve already seen flash.
Flash tattoos are pre-drawn designs created by our artists and ready to be tattooed. They’re a great option if you want some inspiration, love picking from designs in the shop, or just spot something on the wall that feels like it was meant for you.
At Linden Street Tattoo Company, our artists draw their own flash, and we have thousands of designs throughout the shop. We’re always drawing and adding new ones too, so there’s pretty much always something new to find.
Can Flash Tattoos Be Customized?
Yep!
Our flash designs are repeatable, but that doesn’t mean every tattoo has to look exactly the same. You can customize the size, placement, and color, or choose to have your design tattooed in black and grey.
That’s one of the fun things about picking flash. You get to start with a design you already love and make choices that make it feel more like your own.
Are Flash Tattoos One of a Kind?
Not usually.
Our flash designs are repeatable, meaning the same design can be tattooed more than once. That’s part of the tradition of tattoo flash. For generations, tattoo artists have drawn designs specifically to hang in the shop and be tattooed, and we love keeping that old-school side of tattooing alive at Linden Street.
Of course, if you’re looking for something completely unique to you, our artists also take on custom tattoos.
How Do I Find Your Flash?
The best way? Come hang out and look around.
We have flash covering the walls throughout the shop, with designs from each of our artists in all kinds of styles. With thousands of designs to look through, there’s a lot more in the shop than we could ever realistically post online.

We Love a Good Flash Day
If you’ve been around Linden Street for a while, you probably already know we love an excuse to make new flash.
Throughout the year, our artists draw special designs for events like Friday the 13th, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Star Wars Day, Pokémon Day, and whatever else we decide sounds fun.
These events are a chance for our artists to draw something different, put out a bunch of new designs, and have a fun day tattooing them.
What About Get What You Get?
If picking from thousands of designs sounds like too much pressure, we can make the decision for you.
Our Get What You Get machine is filled with American traditional tattoo designs. The machine picks a random design for you, and then you choose whether you want it tattooed in color or black and grey.
It’s one of our favorite ways to get tattooed if you’re feeling spontaneous.
Do I Need an Appointment for a Flash Tattoo?
Nope! Walk-ins are always welcome.
We take walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday from 12–8 PM, based on artist availability. If you find something on the wall you want, just let us know and we’ll see who’s available to tattoo it.
You can also make an appointment if you already know which artist you’d like to work with.
